Aesthete is my motion media senior project, where I created abstract animations to coincide with sounds from elements in nature and coded it all so that my audience could trigger the animations themselves. I decided to use the elements: air, water, fire, earth, and animals, as my base, and represented each of them as tactile buttons that people could play with to trigger the animations. Each of the buttons were created to simulate the element in either the way it looked and felt, or the way in which the person would trigger it, for example, wind was triggered by the person “becoming” the wind and waving their hands through the leaves. I wanted to create a piece that was more than just a video, I wanted the audience to be a part of it, and have them experience these everyday sounds, that tend to get lost, in a new and interesting way.
